Baptism is a public declaration of your personal decision to follow Jesus.

Going under the water symbolizes your old life being buried with Christ, and coming out of the water represents the new life you have received through Him.

“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that... we too may live a new life.”
Romans 6:4

Baptism doesn’t earn salvation. Salvation is received through faith in Jesus. Baptism is an act of obedience that publicly expresses the decision you have already made in your heart.

If you have made the decision to follow Jesus, baptism is your next step.

You don’t have to know everything about the Bible. You don’t have to have your entire life figured out. And you certainly don’t have to be perfect.

Throughout the New Testament, we see people responding to the Gospel by believing in Jesus and then being baptized.

If you’ve said yes to Jesus, you’re ready to take this step.

Before your baptism, our team will explain exactly what will happen and answer any questions you may have.

During your baptism, one of our pastors or ministry leaders will briefly lower you beneath the water and bring you back up, symbolizing the old life being buried and your new life in Christ.

It only takes a few seconds, but it represents a decision that changes everything.

And your Outpour family will be there to celebrate with you!

Absolutely. We love seeing children make their own decision to follow Jesus.

We encourage baptism for children who have personally chosen to follow Jesus and are able to understand what baptism represents.

If your child is asking about baptism, our Outpour Kids team would love to connect with you as a parent, talk with your child, and help determine whether they’re ready to take this important step.

For younger children who have not yet made their own decision to follow Jesus, we encourage parents to consider Parent & Child Dedication instead.

At The Outpour, we practice baptism as a personal response to an individual’s decision to follow Jesus.

If you were baptized or christened as an infant before you were able to personally make that decision, we honor the faith and intentions of your family.

However, after making your own decision to follow Jesus, we encourage you to consider being baptized as your personal declaration of faith.

It isn’t rejecting what your family did for you. It’s personally declaring the faith they hoped you would one day embrace for yourself.
